What Am I Doing?

The answer…I have no clue. I have no clue about blogs and I have no clue how I will pay my auto insurance let alone feed myself when this trip is all done. I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve taken the plunge and quit my job to do a round the world trip. I’m a former travel agent using my work experience and education to help me along the way. I arrived from Ottawa, Canada toΒ  Bangkok, Thailand on Feb. 28th and then from there who knows? No set return date is planned. I plan to spend at least four months in South East Asia, mostly because $3 for a meal and beer sounds like a hell of a time. I will do a circle starting in Bangkok and onwards to Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia then back into Bangkok or maybe Malaysia. We will see where the journey takes me I guess. After SE Asia I don’t even know what continent will be next. I will be doing this all on the cheap, my lack of class and low standards will help when it comes to sleeping in not so desirable places and eating street food. I’m half kidding of course but I’m certainly not doing this to stay in Hampton Inns and eat at KFC. Going local as much as possible is the goal. I will likely return home with an empty bank account, but if that is compensated with new friends, new experiences, new foods in my gut and an overall better understanding and appreciation of the World then I’ll be a happy backpacker.

There is no one theme to this site. I’m a history buff, wannabe foodie, mediocre amateur picture guy and spewer of travel advice all rolled into one. The traveler in me will be posting pictures, stories and experiences. The travel agent in me will be reviewing and critiquing everywhere I sleep, eat and visit. This should be fun!!!
